Guns at Perryville

Perryville Battlefield State Historic Site

A now quiet and peaceful area of rolling hills and farmland is what remains to preserve the memory of the fight that took place here during the American Civil War. Federal and Confederate troops battled to decide here, on October 8, 1862, who would control Kentucky. 7600 men fell that day to answer the question.  Cannons such as these remain to remind the casual visitor of the blood, faith, sweat, and tears that were and are required to make America what she is today.  This one was shot before sunset in silhouette against the sky and clouds.
