Storm Light Over Morton Overlook
Great Smoky Mountains National Park
After being zonked in by rain clouds the evening before, I gave this location another try before my spring Smokies visit was over. Morton Overlook is "best" done as a summer shot according to photo guides I've read, citing how the sun's postion at sunset falls nicely into a scenic composition. As this shot shows, anytime can be scenic when you are prepared and God so wills. The storm here was breaking up and the setting sun's rays found the ground only once. I was ready and fired off several frames. In an instant, this light show was over and little drama followed for the rest of the evening. F/8 and be there-indeed!!
