Camel Rock in Spring
Garden of the gods, Shawnee National Forest
From this image, its easy to observe how this formation got its name. Camel Rock is one of the most iconic sites in all Southern Illinois. I set out to capture this scene in late afternoon light just as the surrounding foliage had budded out in light greens and deep yellows. The contrast with the blueish-gray rock makes for a pleasing composition of an already well-photographed place.
